After a long break over Christmas with no healthy smoothies at all, but rather tons of chocolate, crisps and just way too much food and lazy days I’m now back with some New Year’s Resolutions.
These are some things I will try to improve during the year, and I hope you’ll join me! So here is my guide to a more clean and bright 2019:
Wash your makeup brushes
Dirty makeup brushes can lead to breakouts, so I shall make sure to wash mine more often! It’s recommended to do so once a week if you use them daily.
Drink more water
I’m honestly rubbish at drinking water. I don’t get thirsty? Well, staying hydrated benefits your skin by keeping it moisturized and plump whilst helping your body get rid of toxins more efficiently. Even if it means setting an alarm on my phone and buying myself a fancy water bottle I will do my very best to get better!
More healthy food
The smoothies I’ve been making has been a good way to start my day and I’m getting back on that routine starting now! If you want inspiration you’ll find my favourite recipes so far here on the blog. I also bought myself a spiralizer so I can make vegetable pasta from zucchini and carrots. I’ve tried it once and it turned out really nice!
Never go to bed wearing makeup
Everyone knows about this rule and everyone breaks it. But let’s make 2019 the year we treat ourselves to a great makeup remover and make sure to wash our faces before going to sleep.
Get rid of expired beauty products
Decluttering your wardrobe is one thing. But doing it to your makeup and skincare collection can feel so much worse if you are anything like me. Let’s throw away our old stuff as well as the things we never use to welcome the new year with a fresh start!
Claim more me-time
Take time to do whatever makes you relaxed and happy. I cannot wait until the weather changes so I can go for super long walks with the dog, and take him biking again. Until then I’ll do more illustrations now that I have a new computer. Whatever it is that makes you feel better – do it more!
Get more plants
Extensive research by NASA has revealed that houseplants can remove up to 87% of air toxin in 24 hours. Studies have also proven that indoor plants improve concentration and productivity by up to 15%, as well as reduce stress levels and boost your mood. Since moving to Brighton in May 2018 I’ve filled our little flat with plants in every room, and they do put a smile on my face! Plant therapy is a real thing you know! So bring some houseplant into your home and workplace this year to make yourself happier and more relaxed whilst breathing clean air.
Have more sex
This is one of my best beauty tips, honestly. Sex is good for your mental health. It reduces stress and improves sleep. And it makes you a happier person. Want to read more about sexy stuff? Head over to my other blog Dirt & Delight!
