We’ve all heard of superfoods, and how good they are for our health. Some years ago I started eating chia seeds but little did I know that they are also great for your hair. For a period of time now, I have only washed my hair with Chia Hair that protects against contamination and helps remedy a delicate scalp.
The Chia Hair products are made with chia seed oil that balance both hair and scalp, and adds shine and protects hair from environmental impacts such as air pollution and sun’s harmful UV rays. Chia seeds fall within the category of superfood as they are full of omega-3, protein, fibre, and antioxidants as well as being a good source of iron. In addition, they contain several important minerals, including zinc that is good for skin and hair. Chia Hair has taken advantage of this with its product range that fits all hair types. It consists of four products of which I tested three; a shampoo, a conditioner, and an additional care treatment that is to be used once a week. The fourth product in the series is an oil that will add shine and reduce frizzy hair.
The brand is free from sulphates and parabens. Instead, they are fully packed with vitamins, cold-pressed extra virgin chia seed oil, organic aloe vera, grapefruit, bergamot and mild cleansing ingredients that adds shine and strength. Products without sulphates typically don’t create a lot of foam, which may feel weird the first few washes. You may find that you have to wash your hair twice, but you usually don’t have to wash your hair as often with sulphate-free products, and you will quickly get used to it not foaming as much.
I have used the shampoo in two rounds per wash, but for the conditioner, I feel that one time is enough to make my hair feel soft. The third product is recommended to use once a week for 2-3 minutes. I followed the instructions the first time and felt no difference in the hair afterwards compared to just the shampoo and conditioner. But when I tested a second time, I let the product for about 10 minutes and then my hair felt significantly softer and healthier.
These products do not smell a lot. Even though I’m used to the fact that every shower is a plethora of delicious smells, it doesn’t bother me that my hair washes nowadays mostly smells of clean laundry. In addition, I think that the gentle scent lingers longer in my hair even after it’s dry. If you, like me, expose your hair to a lot of wear by colouring it, using heat tools and too often brushing it whilst wet, you might very well have an irritated scalp and dull hair that could really use a little pick-me-up. So take care of your hair this season with some pure natural products. These ones are a good investment.
